VINTON: Phianna "Ann" Shockley Guetzlaff, age 69, of Olathe, KS and formerly of Vinton died Friday, February 1, 2008 at St. Joseph Medical Center in Kansas City following a lengthy illness.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, February 6, 2008 at St. Stephen's Lutheran Church in Atkins with Rev. Mike Andrew officiating. Interment will be held at St. Joseph Cemetery in Cedar Rapids, IA. Friends may call at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel in Vinton from 4 to 7 PM on Tuesday and at the church in Atkins from 9 AM until service time on Wednesday. A memorial fund has been established. She was born May 15, 1938 at Mt. Pleasant, IA to Floyd and Marjorie (Goff) Shockley and graduated from Washington High School in Vinton with the class of 1956. She then attended South East Community College in Burlington where she received an Associate Degree. On October 20, 1979 she married Donald Guetzlaff at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls, IA. The couple have made their home in the Kansas City area since 1983. Ann was a Legal Secretary at Lathrop & Gage Law Firm in Kansas City, retiring in 2002. Ann was an avid reader and enjoyed shopping, especially when she found a real bargain. She adored her parrott Kiwi and her greatest pleasure came from spending time with her grandchildren and following their athletic events. She is survived by her husband, Don of Olathe, KS; her son, Steve (Diana) Cantonwine of St. Louis, MO; her daughters, Christy Doeschot of Firth, NE, Julie (John) Vogt of Atkins, Kelly Wulfkuhle of Topeka, KS; nine grandchildren; one brother, Allen Shockley of LaPorte City, IA; and one sister, Drusilla Brunssen of Cedar Rapids. Preceding her in death were her parents; her grandson, Matt Cimfel; her sister, Linda Sand; and her brother, Merle Shockley.
