BLAIRSTOWN: Alice I. Radeke Moeller, age 99, died Saturday, November 25, 2006 at the Keystone Nursing Care Center in Keystone following an extended illness.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, November 28, 2006 at Calvary United Methodist Church in Blairstown with Rev. Jena Manchester officiating. Interment will be held at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Blairstown. Friends may register at the church from 9 to 10:30 AM at the church on Tuesday. Phillips Funeral Home in Blairstown is in charge of arrangements. A memorial fund has been established. Alice was born May 13, 1907 on a farm near Blairstown to Otto L. and Emma (Kern) Radeke. She attended LeRoy # 2 Country School north of Blairstown and in 1920 her family moved to Blairstown where she graduated from High School in 1925. After attending Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls she taught in country schools in the Blairstown area for one year. On December 10, 1927 she was united in marriage to Bruce H. Moeller at the Presbyterian Parsonage in Vinton. Bruce and Alice made their home in Blairstown all of their married life. The couple enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and Canada. Bruce preceded her in death on March 20, 1987. Alice continued to live in her home until moving to Rose Haven Assisted Living in Marengo in 2000. She has been a resident of the Keystone Nursing Care Center since July of 2005. Alice loved working in her garden, reading and playing the organ. For many years she was a member of the 20th Century Club and United Methodist Women of her congregation. She is survived by many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters. Her family wants to express their gratitude to Bob Tranberry and Bob Wilson for the kindness and care they gave to Alice these past years.
