BRANDON:  Anna Mae Slager, age 75, died July 29, 2008 at the Vinton Lutheran Home in Vinton following an extended illness.
     Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM, Friday, August 1, 2008 at the Urbana Christian Church in Urbana..  Interment will be held at Bear Creek Cemetery north of Vinton.  Friends may call at Phillips Family Center in Vinton from 4 to 7 PM on Thursday.  A memorial fund has been established.
     Anna was born June 23, 1933 at Toddville to Asa and Grace (Boyles) Van Fossen.  On December 5, 1950 she married Charles Slager at Brandon.  He preceded her in death in 1985.
     Anna enjoyed writing and was an excellent cook.  When President George H. W. Bush visited Brandon she was asked to bake a pie for him.
     She is survived by her sons, Scott (Rony) Slager of Vinton, and John Slager of Brandon; her daughter, Susan Meek of Vinton; her grandchildren, Roger Meek, Dawn Miller, Jacalyn Slager, Tyler Slager, Destiny Slager, and Dakota Slager; her great grandchildren, Makenize Meek, Noah Meek, Lynde Mae Miller and Danny Slager; and her brother, Sonny (Mary) Van Fossen of Vinton.
     In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Mike; her infant sister, Ida Mae and her sister, Bessie Phillips.
