VINTON:  Bernard L. Boisen, age 86, died Saturday evening, November 3, 2007 at Virginia Gay Nursing & Rehab Center in Vinton following an extended illness.
     A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, November 7, 2007 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Vinton.  Interment will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Vinton.  Friends may call at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, 212 E. 6th St., in Vinton from 4 to 7 PM on Tuesday where a Vigil Service will begin at 7 PM.  A Memorial Fund has been established.
     Bernard was born January 16, 1921 at Huron, SD to John and Sophia (Pieper) Boisen.  On August 21, 1956 he married Gertrude Von Holtum at Lismore, MN.  She preceded him in death September 27, 1995.
     Bernard farmed in the Vinton area until retiring in 1967.  He was also employed at a sales representative for Cenpe-Co Oil Company.  He and his wife, Gertrude, were faithful members of their parish.
     He is survived by his sister, Shirley McCormick of Vinton and several nieces and nephews.
     In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Leo, Eldo, Donavan and Edward Boisen and four sisters, Lillian Schatterman, Mae Hanneman, Adeline Meyer and Betty Nelson.
