VINTON: Becky Cottrell, 55, died Sunday, January 20, 2008 at her residence following an extended illness.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 PM, Tuesday, January 22, 2008 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Vinton with Rev. Mark C. Urlaub officiating. Interment will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Vinton. Friends may call at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel from 4 to 7 PM on Monday and from 9 AM until 12:30 AM at the funeral home on Tuesday. The casket will not be open at the church. A memorial fund has been established. Becky was born March 24, 1952 at Vinton to John and Leona (Alpers) Bunten and graduated from Washington High School in 1970. On July 18, 1970 she married Gary Cottrell at Trinity Lutheran Church in Vinton. For twenty-six years, Becky served as Office Manager and Sales Executive at the Cedar Valley Daily Times. She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church and loved outdoor activities including fishing, camping, trips to the Mississippi River and golfing. Becky also loved flowers. She will be remembered for her beautiful green eyes, her sweet smile and her warm and loving personality. Becky always put others before herself. She is survived by her husband, Gary of Vinton; her children, Jason (Shannon) Cottrell of Hiawatha, and Jeannene (Steve) Johnson, Justin Cottrell and Jesse Cottrell all of Vinton; her grandchildren, Destiny and Dallas Cottrell and Daisy, Kort and Charlee Johnson; her father, John Bunten of Vinton; her brothers, Bruce (Mary) Bunten of Garrison and Barry (Emily) Bunten of Cedar Rapids; her sisters, Barbara (John) Anderson of Vinton, and Beth (John) Burns of Colorado. Becky was preceded in death by her mother, Leona Bunten in 1993.
