GARRISON: Beryl "Harb" Pattee, 86, died Monday, April 28, 2008 at Virginia Gay Nursing & Rehab in Vinton following an extended illness.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM., Friday, May 2, 2008 at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, 212 E. 6th St. in Vinton with Rev. Mark Leckband officiating. Private Committal Services will be held at the Garrison Cemetery in Garrison. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 7 PM on Thursday.
"Harb" was born April 15, 1922 at Swansea, Wales-Great Britain to Walter and Edith (Davis) Habberfield. During World War II she was employed in an armaments factory in Manchester, England. On September 10, 1945 she married Leon Pattee, who was stationed in the US Army and they were married at Flixton-Manchester, England. Upon his honorable discharge the couple made their home in South Dakota. They came to Iowa to visit Leon's brother and decided to make Garrison their permanent residence in 1947. He preceded her in death on June 15, 2002..
Harb was a member of Royal Neighbors, and the Garrison Fireman's Auxiliary. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, reading, and fishing trips to Minnesota. Her greatest joy came from her role as a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She is survived by her son, Craig (Cindy) Pattee of Garrison; her grandchildren, Tara Pattee and special friend, Brian Morrow of Vinton and Tysus (Amber) Pattee of Vinton; her great-grandchildren, Jordan and Jenna Pattee of Vinton; her sister, Lilian Hamilton of Toronto, Canada; her sisters-in-law, Edna Habberfield of Neath, Wales, Great Britain and Dorothy "Dort" Pattee of Garrison; many nieces and nephews; and her special friends, Leah Petersen of Dysart and Linda Barkdoll of Vinton.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Walter, Eddy, and Gwynn Habberfield.
