VINTON: Betty Primmer, age 83, died Thursday morning, June 8, 2006 at her residence following an extended illness.
Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 A.M., Monday, June 12, 2006 at Wesley United Methodist Church with her Grandson, Tom Primmer officiating. Interment will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Vinton. Friends may call at Phillips Family Center, 605 2nd Avenue, in Vinton from 4 to 7 P.M., on Sunday. A Memorial Fund has been established for the American Lung Association.
Betty was born February 17, 1923 at Marengo to Clifton and Leola (Roberts) Butler. Her family moved to Vinton where she graduated from Lincoln High School in 1941. On August 3, 1941 she married Carl A. Primmer at Vinton. He preceded her in death on January 27, 1991
Betty was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church and the Vinton Woman's Club. She had served as a volunteer at Virginia Gay Hospital. In her leisure she enjoyed knitting , crafts and crocheting afghans for her family and friends.
She is survived by her children, Trudy (Roger R. ) Evans of Vinton, Pamela Schminke of Waterloo, Carla (Bruce) Bauer of Vinton, Richard (Pamela) Primmer of Vinton, and Doris (Randy) Trefz of Vinton; fifteen grandchildren; thirty-three great-grandchildren; her sister, Darline Rigel of Waterloo, her sisters-in-law, Doris Smith of Vinton, Nelda (George) Eckhart of Vinton, Nellie Menning of Muskegan, MI, and Pat (Dale) Cantonwine of Tipton, and her brother-in-law, Glenn (June) Primmer of Pharr, TX.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; her step-father, Clark McGranahan; her sister, Alice Welch; and her granddaughter, Christina Schminke
