VINTON:  Brent Michael "Brenton" Schlarbaum, age 27, died Monday, September 4, 2006 at St. Lukes Hospital in Cedar Rapids
     A celebration of Brent's life will be held from 4:00 until 8:00 P.M. Thursday, September 7, 2006 at the Phillips Funeral Home Chapel in Vinton.  Private family committal services will be held at Evergreen Cemetery.
     Brent was born on August 24, 1979 in Iowa City, the son of Janice Peterman and Kevin Schlarbaum.  He graduated from Washington High School in Vinton with the class of 1998.  He was a member of the football and swim teams and also was a member of the Vinton Aquatic Club swimming and diving teams.  Brent was working as brick layer.  He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman.  He also loved to go to the Magic Bus with his friends.
     He is survived by his mother Janice Peterman (Steve Dewitt) of Vinton, his father Kevin Schlarbaum and wife Jackie of Mt. Auburn, his brothers, Dustan Smith and his wife Tiffany and Clayton Schlarbaum, all of Vinton, his step-sisters Lisa, Carly and Natasha of Mt. Auburn, his nephew Aydan Ray Smith, his grandparents Roger and Joyce Schlarbaum of Vinton and Sonny and Rayma Peterman of Farmington, IA, two uncles, Scott Schlarbaum of Vinton and Tracey Peterman of Phoenix, AZ., his aunt Lori Kimm (Rick Lazenby) of Vinton and special friends Michelle Cruise and Katie Willett, both of Cedar Rapids.
     He was preceded in death by his great grandparents and his great aunt.
     In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
