CEDAR RAPIDS:   Benny C. Troxel, 77,  of Cedar Rapids and formerly of Vinton, died Tuesday, August 29, 2006 at his home.  Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 P.M., Thursday, at Phillips Family Center, 605 2nd Ave, in Vinton.  There will be no public Funeral Service.  Memorials may be directed to a charity of the donors' choice.
      Benny was born July 21, 1929 in rural Benton County.  His parents, Tom and Mabel (Kramer) Brody preceded him in death.  Benny served his nation in the US Army during the Korean Conflict.  He was honorably discharged in 1951 after achieving the rank of Corporal.  Benny was united in marriage to Bernita Miller on May 22, 1952 in Urbana.  They were longtime residents of Vinton and recently moved to Cedar Rapids.  Benny was self-employed in the construction business for a time and worked for the City of Vinton and later was employed by Coots Quarry as a heavy equipment operator. 
      Benny loved his family dearly and enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  He also liked to cook and loved to eat.  Benny also had a love for the outdoors, he spent a great deal of time fishing and hunting. 
      In addition to his wife Bernita of Cedar Rapids, Benny is survived by his daughters, Christina (Eugene) Kriegel of Brooklyn and Diana (Bob) Scandridge of Sully; six grandchildren, Amy (John) Smith and their children Samantha, Zachary and Benny, Ryan (Cari) Kriegel all of Marengo, Angela (Chad) Grimm and their children Mishayla and Jayden all of Williamsburg and Payton, Cooper and Hailey Scandridge all of Sully.
