VINTON: Beulah C. Dake, 96, died Saturday, July 25, 2009 at Virginia Gay Nursing & Rehab in Vinton following an extended illness.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, August 1, 2009 at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, 212 E. 6th St, in Vinton with Rev. Mark Leckband officiating. Interment will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Vinton. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 7 PM on Friday. A Memorial Fund has been established.
Beulah was born February 6, 1913 to Abraham and Mary Jane (Covington) Kizer. She graduated from Vinton High School in 1928. She then married Donald Dake on March 25, 1933. They farmed in the Vinton area until 1955 when they moved to Vinton. Beulah worked at Birds Hardware store and for the Benton Co. School Board.
In 1970 they moved to Port Charlotte, FL. She worked for the Charlotte Co. School Board until 1977, when she retired with fun in the year round sun. She always had a real zest for life and people around her enjoyed being her friend. They were active members in the First Christian Church in Port Charlotte.
In 1991 her beloved husband, Don, went on to be with his Lord. Beulah stayed in Florida until 2005 when she moved back to Vinton
Beulah is survived by daughters, Patricia Turner, Punta Gorda, FL, and Barbara Dake-Christiansen, Vinton; and one son-in-law, Marvin Trimble, Sr., Garrison. She has eight grandchildren, Marvin (Michelle) Trimble, Jr., Garrison, Krystal (Lenny) Geiger, Vinton, Roxa (Art) Cummings, Spirit Lake, Regina Anderson, Punta Gorda, FL, Robin (Mike) Jenkinson, North Port, FL, Donald (Marnie) Burkey, Vinton, Debbra Burkey, Iowa City; and one granddaughter-in-law, Toni Trimble, Tulsa, OK. Beulah also has twelve great-grandchildren; nineteen great-great grandchildren, and one brother, Lawrence Kizer of California.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Betty Trimble; one grandson, Jack Trimble; two brothers, Alvin and Lenn; and one sister, Helen.
