BLAIRSTOWN: Charles Canfield, 84, died Tuesday, December 9, 2008 at Sunrise Hill Care Center in Traer following an extended illness.
Private Services and Committal will be held at a later date. Phillips Funeral Home in Blairstown is in charge of arrangements.
Charles was born November 22, 1924 at Waterloo to Charles and Eunice (Allen) Canfield and graduated from Waterloo East High School. From 1965 to 1989 he served as Manager of Coon Creek Telephone Company. Charles was a member of the EAA Experimental Aviation Assn., Skyhawks, Prop Busters, and the Remote Control Airplane Club.
On April 19, 1943, he was united in marriage to Miriam Knoll at Greene, Iowa. He is survived by his wife, Miriam of Blairstown; his daughters, Trudy Hollandsworth of Toddville, Claudia Walters of Dysart, and Lesa (Randall) Parizek of Elberon; his grandchildren, Phadra Hollandsworth, Keenan (Terri) Walters, Kurt (Nina) Walters, and Andrea Mabry; and his great-grandchildren, Gavin, Ashley, Karis, and Elijah Walters and Landun Mabry.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Paul Canfield; and his sisters, Gertrude Cotton, Vivian Davis, and Dorothy Drum
