VAN HORNE - Clara Bertha De Neve, age 90, died Saturday, November 24, 2007 at her home following an extended illness.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11AM, on Tuesday, November 27, 2007 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Van Horne with Rev. Jack McClure as Celebrant. Committal Services will be held at 2:30 PM on Tuesday at Calvary Cemetery in Victor. Friends may call at Phillips Funeral Home in Keystone from 4 to 7 PM on Monday where a Vigil Service will begin at 7 PM. A memorial fund has been established. Clara was born March 21, 1917 at Hartwick to Charles and Julia (Warnez) Baetsle. On August 7, 1934 she was united in marriage to Herman De Neve in Victor. He preceded her in death on July 19, 1988. Clara was a farm wife, employed at Amana Refrigeration, Amana Woolen Mill and served as housekeeper for priests of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Van Horne for sixteen years. She is survived by her children, Fred (Shirley) De Neve of Van Horne, Gene (Becky) De Neve of Blairstown, JoAnn McFarland of Van Horne; her sons-in-law, Ron Flickinger of Vinton and Red McFarland of Van Horne; her grandchildren, Julie Helburg, Cindy Greteman, Mary Boots, Rhonda Happel, Rochelle Winter, Rick and Rusty Flickinger, Lanny, Trent and Cory De Neve, Mindy Wallace, Jodi Metz, Kami Thenhaus and Kandee Flowers, Shane, Jay and Tim McFarland; thirteen great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; five step-great grandchildren; one step great-great grandchild; her sisters-in-law, Madeline, Helen and Della and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Pat Flickinger; her brothers, Art, Hank, Julius, Arnold, Charley and Joseph Baetsle; and her sister, Mary Eggert. Clara was cared for at home by her granddaughters, Jodi, Mindy, and Kami. Her family expresses special thanks to Amber, Danielle and Deacon Tom from Essence Of Life Hospice.
