NEWHALL: Charles E. Seeman, age 77, died Friday, May 16, 2008 at his residence after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM, Tuesday, May 20, 2008 at St. John Lutheran Church in Newhall with Rev. Steven Rempfer officiating. Graveside Services with Military Rites conducted by the John Ward McGranahan American Legion Post #167 of Newhall will be held at 1:30 PM at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery in Cedar Rapids. Public Visitation will be held at the church in Newhall from 4 to 6 PM on Monday.
Survivors include his wife, Ardis of Newhall; his children, Jeffrey Seeman of Cedar Rapids, Mary (Anthony) Rossolille of Bartlett, IL and Sherry Ellens of Springfield, MO; his sister, Donna (Arnold) Haar of Newhall; his sister-in-law, Marilyn Seeman of Newhall; five grandchildren, Brittney and Samantha Seeman, Colton, Colin, and Cameron Ellens; his step-granddaughter, Breanna Rossolille and many nieces and nephews.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Carroll.
He was born July 28, 1930 in Newhall to Emmett and Mary (Sindt) Seeman and graduated from the Newhall High School in 1950. Inducted into the US Army in 1952 he served on the front lines during the Korean Conflict and fought in the battles of OP Harry Mountain, Pork Chop Hill and White Horse Mountain (The Iron Triangles).
Upon his return from his tour of duty in 1953, he started "Chuck's Plumbing and Heating" and owned Newhall Manufacturing working in that field until his retirement in 1992. On October 25, 1966 he married Ardis Frieden at St. John Lutheran Church in Newhall.
He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, the "Survivors Of OP Harry" and the John Ward McGranahan American Legion Post #167 of Newhall. For thirty-five years he was a member of the Newhall Volunteer Fire Dept. and he enjoyed fishing, playing cards and traveling. He especially enjoyed going on Cruises.
In lieu of flowers a Memorial Fund has been established.
