VAN HORNE: Marie "Chris" Fiebelkorn, 70, died Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at Windsor Manor in Vinton following a three year battle with cancer.    Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, June 18th at Blessed Hope Church in Vinton with Pastor Jim Blair officiating.  Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until service time at the church.  Interment will be held at St. John Cemetery in Newhall.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Blessed Hope Church in Vinton.  Phillips Funeral Home in Vinton is in charge of arrangements.                          
     Chris was born on July 22, 1940 in Glidden, WI. to Oscar E. and Anna E. (Johnson) Krans and graduated from Glidden High School in 1958.  She then attended the University of Wisconsin-Stout in Menomonie, WI and graduated with a degree in Home Economics in 1962.  Upon graduation she moved and worked in a department store in Minneapolis, MN.
     Chris had a pen pal and corresponded with him until they met, and courted.  She and  her pen pal, Leroy Fiebelkorn were united in marriage on June 27, 1964 at Minneapolis, MN.  Following their marriage, the couple made their home on a farm south of Vinton until Leroy's death in 1994 

     Chris is survived by her brother, Alan (Claudia) Krans of Gillette, WI; her nephews, Michael, Jon and Daniel Krans and niece, Sarah Krans; her sister-in-law, Doris "Dee" Kriz of Cedar Rapids; her nephews, Jeffrey (Sabrina) Tippey of Dallas, TX, and Douglas (Tamara) Tippey of Houston, TX; her special cat, Midgie; and her extended family at Blessed Hope Church.

     She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Leroy and her nephew, Steve Riffey.
