HIAWATHA:  De Mont Dake, age 61, died Wednesday, December 6, 2006 at Central Florida Regional Hospital in Sanford, FL after suffering an apparent heart attack while on vacation.
     Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, December 9, 2006 at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, 212 E. 6th St, in Vinton with Rev. David Gates officiating.  Interment will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Vinton.  Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 7 PM on Friday.  In lieu of flowers a Memorial Fund has been established.
     De Mont was born October 4, 1945 in Vinton to Marion Lewis and Ethel (Fuehrer) Dake and graduated from the Vinton High School in 1963.  From 1965 to 1967 De Mont served his nation in the US Army.  On June 15, 1968 he married Mary Jo Ludden in Vinton and they were divorced in 1987.
     For thirty-two years De Mont was employed in the Engineering Dept. of Rockwell Collins and he retired in 2005.  He was a member of Geo. G. Luckey American Legion Post #57 of Vinton and was a fan of Nascar Racing.
     He is survived by his daughters, Justine (Joseph) Souhrada of Milton, WI, and Charlene Berzinski of Cedar Rapids; his grandchildren, Alexa, Anna and Andrew Souhrada, and Aaron Bedell and Curstie Ingram; his special friend, Crystal Fetter of Hiawatha; his brothers, Kenneth (Dorothy) Dake and Rudy Dake, all of Vinton; and his sisters, Janet Kearns of Cedar Rapids, and Bonnie (Paul) Schroeder of Coon Rapids.
     In addition to his parents, his nephew, Tony Acklin preceded him in death.
