VINTON: Dale William Edwards, 83, died Saturday, October 14, 2006 at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo following a short illness.
He was born August 11, 1923, at Virginia Gay Hospital in Vinton, a son of Walter and Dessie Edwards.
He married Emma Belle Wallace on February 2, 1943, at First Congregational Church in Waterloo.
Dale graduated from Lincoln High School in Vinton in 1942 and worked first with his father and brothers, then with his son Bryan, with Edwards Plumbing and Heating in Vinton for 60 years. He retired in 2002. He was a member of First Christian Church in Vinton.
He is survived by his wife, Emma of Vinton; two sons, Dr. Teryl (Pam) Edwards of Waterloo, and Bryan (Ann) Edwards of Vinton; two daughters, Sharon (Jim) Smith of St. Louis, Vicki (Rod) Milroy of Palo Alto, California; 14 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; and a brother, Leonard (Vivian) Edwards of Vinton.
Dale was preceded in death by one brother, Wendell Edwards, and two sisters, Catherine Kramer and Jeanne Woods.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, October 17, 2006 at the First Christian Church in Vinton with internment at Evergreen Cemetery in Vinton. Friends may call from 4 to 7 PM on Monday at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, 212 E. 6th St. in Vinton.
A Memorial Fund has been established.
