VAN HORNE:  Diane Hanken, age 68, died Sunday, October 29, 2006 at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids following an extended illness
     Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM, Thursday, November 2, 2006 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Van Horne with Father Keith L. Birch, and Pastor Norm Bennett officiating.   Private Committal Services will be held at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery in Cedar Rapids.  Friends may call at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel in Keystone from 4 to 8 PM on Wednesday.  A Memorial Fund has been established.
     Diane was born April 19, 1938 in Cedar Rapids to Roy C. and Evelyn L. (McPike) Herzberger and graduated from the Van Horne High School in 1956.  On February 17, 1960 she married Roger J. Hanken in Van Horne.
     Diane had been employed as a secretary for the Van Horne Public Schools and Benton Community School District.  She also served as the secretary at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Van Horne and for 50 years as the church organist at Salem United Methodist Church in Van Horne.  Diane was a member of Salem United Methodist Church and the Corcas Circle.  She was also a member of the Thomas F. Bevins American Legion Auxiliary in Van Horne.
     She is survived by her husband, Roger J. Hanken  of Van Horne; her sons, Michael (Cindy) Hanken of Marshalltown, and David (Lori) Hanken of Bloomington, MN; her mother, Evelyn Herzberger of Keystone; her grandchildren, Amy (Hanken) Bland (Chris) of Marshalltown, and Elsie and Porter Hanken of Bloomington, MN; her great-grandchild, Presley Bland of Marshalltown; her sister, Susan (Kerm) Urbain of Owatonna, MN; her brother, Jim (Linda) Herzberger of Atkins; and numerous nieces and nephews.
     She was preceded in death by her father and an infant son.
