ATKINS - Dale Vogt, age 88, died Thursday, September 27, 2007 at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids following a brief illness.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM, Monday, October 1, 2007 at St. Stephen's Lutheran Church in Atkins with Rev. Mike Andrew officiating. Interment will be held at Oakwood Cemetery in Shellsburg. The visitation will also be held at the church in Atkins from 2 to 5 PM on Sunday. A memorial fund has been established. Dale was born June 18, 1919 near Palo to Harry J. and Myrtle (Rehder) Vogt and graduated from the Shellsburg High School. During World War II he served his nation in the US Army. He was a member of the Atkins American Legion Post #217 of Atkins and the 40 & 8. He married Phyllis Krug at Nashua, IA and she preceded him in death. On October 30, 1966 he married Betty Jeanne Krsek at South Dakota. Dale was the founder and owner of West Side Unlimited. He is survived by his wife, Jeanne Vogt of Atkins; his sons, Ron (Sharon) Vogt of Atkins, Don (Andie) Vogt of Ft. Meyer, FL, Tom (Nida) Vogt of Frisco, TX, John (Julie) Vogt of Atkins, and Lonnie Vogt of Hiawatha; his daughter, Dalean Larson and her significant other, Dave Wiseman of Cedar Rapids; twelve grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; his brother, Lee Vogt of Cedar Rapids; his sisters, Maxine Esposito of Elk Grove, CA, and Lois Sweeting of Center Point; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and his first wife, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Kathryn; his brother, Bernard Vogt and his sisters, Bernita Vogt, Dorothy Babcock, Norine Macomber, and Geraldine Miller.
