VINTON: Dorothy Mary Pickart Gloede, 78, of Vinton and formally of Keystone, died peacefully at her home Tuesday, February 16, 2010. A Mass Of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM, Saturday, February 20, 2010 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Vinton with Father David Ambrosy as Celebrant. Committal Services will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery near Keystone at 1 PM on Saturday. Friends may call from 3 to 7 PM on Friday at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, 212 E. 6th St. in Vinton where a Vigil Service will begin at 7 PM. A memorial fund has been established. Dorothy was born March 22, 1931 at Parkston, SD to Anton and Lena (Bigge) Pickart and graduated from the Keystone High School in 1948. On June 28, 1949 she was united in marriage to Verlus E. Gloede at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Vinton. Verlus and Dorothy resided in the Keystone area until their retirement in 2002, when they moved to Lutheran Home Court in Vinton. She was the head bookkeeper at the Belle Plaine Livestock Auction for over twenty-five years, where she made lifelong friendships. Dorothy is survived by her husband Verlus of Vinton; her children, Deborah (Bob) Brecht of Keystone, Todd (Diane) Gloede of Vinton, Doreen (Cliff) Blanchard of Keystone, and Amy Burroughs of Vinton; fourteen grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her brothers and sisters, Edward (Carol) Pickart of Vinton, Ilene (Herman) Paulsen of Keystone, John (Charlene) Pickart of Keystone, Richard (Dianne) Pickart of Van Horne, Mary (David) Schallau of Lincoln, NE; and Linda (Joe) Kaloupek of Elberon. She was preceded in death by her parents and one grandson, Jamie Blanchard.
