VINTON: Elizabeth Roberts Blazicek, age 92, died Wednesday morning, October 25, 2006 at the Keystone Nursing Care Center following an extended illness.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, October 28, 2006 at the Presbyterian Church in Vinton with Rev. Ronald Sumption officiating. Interment will be held at the Garrison Cemetery in Garrison. Friends may call at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, 212 E. 6th St. in Vinton, from 4 to 7 PM on Friday. A Memorial Fund has been established.
Elizabeth was born June 14, 1914 at Williamsburg, to Elias and Mary (Owens) Roberts and graduated from the Williamsburg High School in 1934.
On June 21, 1941 she married John Blazicek in Vinton. The couple farmed in Homer Township for many years and retired in 1974 and moved to Vinton. John preceded his wife in death on December 17, 2002.
Elizabeth was a 50-year member of the Presbyterian Church in Vinton and a member of the Lutheran Home Auxiliary. She enjoyed her flowers, embroidering and sewing.
She is survived by her son, Allen (Linda) Blazicek of Waukee, her daughters, Betty (Lanny) Selk of Dysart, and Bonnie (Dennis) Mason of Cedar Rapids; seven grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Catherine and Nellie Roberts, and Rebecca Cashman; and her brothers, Henry, Edward, David and William Roberts.
