VINTON: Edward Daniel Busler, 60, beloved husband, brother, father, grandfather, uncle and friend, died unexpectedly at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids on March 1, 2008 surrounded by family and friends. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Tuesday, March 4, 2008 at Phillips Family Center, 605 Second Avenue with Rev. Mark C. Urlaub officiating. Interment will be in Maplewood Cemetery with graveside military rites conducted by the George G. Luckey American Legion Post #57. Friends may call from 4 - 8 PM, Monday at Phillips Family Center. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.
Ed was born to Wilbur and Gertrude (Ford) Busler on February 10, 1948 in Vinton. He attended school in Vinton and graduated from Kirkwood Community College as a machinist in Cedar Rapids. Ed was united in marriage to Beverly Anne (Samaritoni) on December 16, 1978 in Sandusky, Ohio. He honorably served our country in the U.S. Army for 3 years, 1 being in Vietnam. Ed had most recently been employed for over 15 years with Rockwell Collins, in Cedar Rapids. He is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Beverly, 4 daughters, Tamara (Keith) Barnes, Garrison; Dianna Cancian, Ontario, Canada; Donna (Ron) Welch, Cascade; and Rebecca Busler (Dave Schulze), Keystone. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren, three brothers one sister and numerous nieces and nephews. His parents preceded him in death. He will be remembered as a loving, caring and hardworking husband, and father who was easily loved by all who met him. He always had a smile and a joke for everyone he met, and always had candy on hand. He was fascinated by nature and loved all animals. He liked "books on tape," NASCAR, local singing talent, working on cars, and learning new things. To Ed, a stranger was an unmet friend and he would talk with anyone, known or unknown for hours. He has always been an enthusiastic person and will be greatly missed. His spirit will live on in the hearts of everyone touched by his life.
