KEYSTONE:  Eileen J. Root, 78, of Keystone and formerly of Chicago, died Tuesday, December 9, 2008 at the Keystone Nursing Care Center in Keystone following an extended illness.
     Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM, Friday, December 12, 2008 at St. John Lutheran Church in Keystone with Rev. Dr. James Eggert officiating.  Interment will be held at the Keystone Cemetery.  Friends may call at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel in Keystone from 4 to 7 PM on Thursday.  A Memorial Fund has been established.
     Eileen was born November 8, 1930 in Benton County near Elberon to Alfred and Sophia (Balhorn) Bockholt and graduated from the Keystone High School.  For thirty-one years she was employed in the clerical department of Kemper Insurance in Chicago.  Eileen enjoyed visits with family and friends.  She especially loved her grandchildren's trips to Chicago where they attended Cubs games.  She was active in the Cook County Senior Citizen Law Enforcement Volunteers For A Safe Community.  In her leisure she enjoyed making jewelry.
     She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Cathy and Greg Franzenburg of Keystone; her grandchildren, Elysha (Casey) Goodgion, Geoff (Christy) Franzenburg, and Tyler Franzenburg; her great-grandchildren, Cassidi, Abbi, Faith, and Ashleigh; and a number of nieces and nephews.
      Eileen was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, LaVerne Bockholt; and her sister and brother-in-law, Marlus and Robert Buch.
