CEDAR RAPIDS:  Emmett John Stark, age 86, died Thursday, October 5, 2006 at Heritage Nursing and Rehab Center in Cedar Rapids following an extended illness.
     A Memorial Service will be held at 7 PM, Monday, October 9, 2006 at the Phillips Family Center in Vinton with Rev. Gary Sneller of the Cedar Christian Church in Cedar Rapids officiating.  Private Committal Services will be held at Linwood Cemetery in Cedar Rapids.  Friends may register and join the family for fellowship and refreshments at Phillips Family Center from 4 PM until service time.  A Memorial Fund has been established.
     Emmett was born August 22, 1920 at Urbana to Lyman Harry and Hazel Ruth (Dannels) Stark.  He graduated from the Shellsburg High School and served his nation in the US Army during World War II.
     Prior to his retirement in 1977, Emmett was a foreman at Penick & Ford in Cedar Rapids for twenty-seven years.  He was a 50 year member of  his church in Cedar Rapids.
     On June 9, 1940 he married W. Laureen Bruce at Oak Grove Church near Shellsburg.
     He is survived by W. Laureen, his wife of 66 years; his children, Vivian (Gary) Beatty of Atkins, Vern (Daisy) Stark of Norway, and Victor Stark of Osage Beach, MO; seven grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
      In addition to his parents, his son, Vincent, his daughter, Donna; his son-in-lw, Dennis McGlashing; and his great-grandson, Steven McGlashing preceded him in death
