VINTON:  Eleanore White, age 91, died November 9, 2006 at Virginia Gay Nursing & Rehab Center following an extended illness.
     Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM, Friday, November 17, 2006 at the Urbana Christian Church with Dr. Lyle L. Dake of Lawrenceville, IL officiating.  Interment will be held at Oakwood Cemetery near Shellsburg. Friends may call at Phillips Family Center, 605 2nd Ave. in Vinton from 4 to 7 PM on Thursday.  In lieu of flowers a Memorial Fund has been established for the Urbana Christian Church.
     Eleanore was born January 31, 1915 to Albert and Iona (Van Fossen) Born, but was raised by her grandmother, Anna Van Fossen.  She graduated from the Shellsburg high School in 1933 and married Delbert White in 1933.  They lived and farmed in Benton County all of their married life.  Delbert preceded his wife in death on February 27, 1971.
     Eleanore was a long time member of the Urbana Christian Church and CWF of her congregation.  She also enjoyed membership in several neighborhood clubs over the years.  Since 1998 she has made her home at Virginia Gay Nursing and Rehab Center in Vinton. Her family wants to thank the staff of the facility for the excellent care she received. 
     She is survived by her children, Donna Lala of Cedar Rapids, Marilyn (Dr. Lyle) Dake of Lawrenceville, IL, Jean (Dan) Dolph of Cedar Rapids, and Duane (Janice) White of Vinton; ten grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
     In addition to her parents, grandmother, and husband, she was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter.
