BLAIRSTOWN - Edward M. Wiebold, age 81, died Friday, September 7, 2007 at Promise House in Hiawatha following a brief illness.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM, Tuesday, September 11, 2007 at Grace Lutheran Church in Blairstown with Rev. David Rempfer officiating. Interment will be held at Pleasant Hill Cemetery with Graveside Military Rites conducted by the M.J. Kirby American Legion Post #170 of Blairstown. Visitation will also be held at the church from 4 to 8 PM on Monday. Phillips Funeral Home in Blairstown is in charge of arrangements. A Memorial Fund has been established. Edward was born July 1, 1926 at Good Thunder, MN to Edward and Anna (Furler) Wiebold, Sr.. During the Korean Conflict he served his nation in the US Army and was a member of the M. J. Kirby American Legion Post #170 in Blairstown. On December 11, 1952 he married Pat Rundall at Grace Lutheran Church in Blairstown. A devoted member of his congregation, Edward had been a member of the Fellowship Club, a Trustee, the church Treasurer and served as Chairman of the Congregation. . He farmed in the Blairstown area until his retirement in 1992 and in his leisure he loved playing cards. Edward is survived by his wife, Pat of Blairstown; his children, Dan (Deb) Wiebold of Cedar Rapids, Peggy (Dan) Musil of Ely, Jay (Melody) Wiebold of Cedar Rapids, Kristi (Terry) Haindfield of Highlandville, and Sandy (Brent) Niland of West Des Moines; sixteen grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; his brother, Gordon Wiebold of Blairstown; and his sisters, LaVonne (Ed) Wilhelmi of Atkins, and Gloria Stenzel of Marion. He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Lillian and Velma Wiebold and Johanna Wichman.
