LUZERNE: Frieda Evangeline Meyer Schroeder, 91, a resident of Keystone Nursing Care Center the past two years, is now at rest with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ after going home to be with Him on Friday, October 14, 2011.

A Service for the Celebration of her life will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, October 17, 2011 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Luzerne with Pastor Michael Musick officiating.  Interment will be held at the Luzerne Lutheran Cemetery.   Visitation will be held at Phillips Funeral Home in Keystone from 3 to 5 p.m., today.

Frieda Evangeline Meyer was one of four children  born to Theophil and Bertha (Wieser) Meyer in Maryland, New York.  She attended grade school in Iowa County and graduated in May 1935 among the top ten of the rural students in Iowa County.  She graduated from Wayne School of Practical Nursing in Chicago, IL in 1945.  In addition to working as a nurse, she was also involved with the church youth group and helped various family members and friends.

On May 27, 1950 she married Harold Joseph Schroeder at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Luzerne.  They lived on a farm three mile from Luzerne, where they raised four daughters and Frieda helped her husband farm.  An active member of their church, Frieda was in charge of Vacation Bible School and the Cradle Roll Program for several years.  She also visited the sick and the elderly in the community.  Her life time of service was prompted by her passion to reach people with the love of Christ.  She was always looking for ways to help those in need.  Harold preceded her in death on November 25, 1977, and Frieda remained on the farm until 2009 when she moved to the care facility in Keystone.

Frieda is survived by her daughters; Ruth (Roger) Ward of State Center, and their four children, Daniel (Amy), Micah, Dominique, and Aaron Ward; Joan (Martin) Weber of Cameroon, Africa and their three children, Nathan, Sammy (Kelsey) and Sarah Weber; Esther (Edward) Sander of Seward, NE and their six children, Jeremy (Janelle), Hannah (Scott) Moore and their three children, and Jonah (Jessica) and their three children, and Seth (Alyssa), Joy and Eva Sander; and Mary (Brad) Sievers of Luzerne and their three children, Clint (Jenny Nguyen) Pecenka, Amanda Pecenka and Kaitlyn Sievers.  She is also survived by her sister, Marie Ramsey and sister-in-law, Florence Meyer and brother-in-law, Vernon Schroeder, along with many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Theophil Meyer and her sister, Bertha Buelow.

Memorials may be made to Lutheran Bible Translators, designated to Weber-Kwanja ministry, or to Central Lutheran School.
