WATKINS - Gene L. Clark, age 73 died Sunday, May 6, 2007 at his residence following a brief illness.  Gene was born September 6, 1934 in Springville the son of James and Opal Clark.  Gene was very proud of his military service with the United States Marine Corp. during the Korean War.  He was honorably discharged from the Marines following two tours of duty. 
     Gene was united in marriage to Betty Reel on December 18, 1982 in Stafford, Texas.  They resided in Watkins where they owned and operated Clark's Place.  Gene enjoyed all types of racing and watched NASCAR whenever possible.  Besides helping out his extended family, Gene enjoyed many spirited conversations with his friends.  He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him. 
     Gene is survived by his wife Betty; his children, Jim Clark, Mike (Linda) Clark, Coleen Kaar, Michelle (Roger) Walter, Milisha (Robb) Dunigan, Lonnie (Sherry) House; fourteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren; sisters, Carolyn McShane and Sharon Crawford.
     In addition to his parents, Gene was preceded in death by his brother, Paul and sisters, Lois Port and Shirley Snyder.
     Visitation will be from 4-7 PM on Tuesday, May 8, 2007 at Phillips Funeral Home, Blairstown.  Private family committal services will be held at a later date.  A memorial fund has been established.
