VAN HORNE:  Genevieve Kueny, 93, died Wednesday, April 16, 2008 at the Keystone Nursing Care Center in Keystone following an extended illness.
     A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, April 19, 2008 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Newhall with Father Jack McClure as Celebrant.  Interment will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery near Keystone. Friends may call at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel in Keystone from 4 to 7 on Friday where a Vigil Service will begin at 7 PM. The casket will also be open at the church from 9:00 A.M. until service time on Saturday.                         
     Genevieve was born November 29, 1914 at Van Horne to Herman and Mary (O'Brien) Paulsen and graduated from the Van Horne High School.  On February 12, 1934 she married Clarence Kueny at Van Horne.  He preceded her in death in 1991.
     A member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Van Horne, Genevieve served on the Altar & Rosary Society and sang in the church choir.  She had been a 4-H Leader for many years, served as P.T.A. President and also sang in the County Choir.
     She is survived by her son, Wayne Kueny of Atkins; her daughters, Mary (Maurice) Arndt of Altoona, and Karen Garbers and fiance, Merrill Birchmier of Atkins; seven grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.
     In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Edward; and six brothers, Dale, Donald, Richard, Robert, Lloyd, and Lenard Paulsen.
