Genave Pearl (Brody) Reisser, entered into rest August 19, 2006 in San Jose, CA. Beloved wife of the late Arden Reisser. Devoted mother of Billee; and grandmother of Barry and Beth Giansiracusa of San Jose, CA. Dear Aunt of Terry Schafer of Columbus, IA, Scott Hogan of  Vinton, IA, Pat Wagner and Susie Baker of Los Gatos, CA. Nickee Amado of Littleton, CO and Dr. Mike Baker of Perth, Australia. A native of Vinton, IA. Aged 95 years.

Although Geneve was crowned “Miss Benton County” of 1929 – she was probably best remembered as “Miss Brody” – to her student’s from each of  the three “country” school houses in which she taught primary education for the following 7 years. In 1941, Genave left her native home in Vinton for California. In her latter years, Ms. Reisser was known for her fondness of thoroughbred horse racing – and for the color pink!

Genave could routinely be found (several times per week; over the last 65 years!) at the race tracks near her home, south of San Francisco, CA. As such, Ms. Reiser had come to posses a vast knowledge on the subject, and had become a consistent “handicapper”. Her love of the sport was such; that she once expressed her desire to have her cremated remains scattered over her beloved “Bay Meadow’s Race Track” in San Mateo, CA. Unfortunately, local laws prohibited the fulfilling of her request.

Friends (including her former students which are “still alive”) are invited to attend Funeral Services on Wednesday, August 23, 2006, at  7:00 pm at the Phillips Family Center, 605 2nd Avenue Vinton, IA. with Rev. Rose Blank officiating. Interment Thursday at Evergreen Cemetery, Vinton, IA.
