VINTON:  Geraldine Brehm Sorensen, age 94, died Monday, October 23, 2006 at the Vinton Lutheran Home following an extended illness.
     Funeral Services will be held at 2 PM, Thursday, October 26, 2006 at Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Clarke E. Frederick and Vicar David Klenge officiating.  Interment will be held at St. John Cemetery near Newhall.  Visitation will also be held at the church on Thursday from 11 AM until service time.  A Memorial Fund has been established for Amenity Hospice and the Vinton Lutheran Home.
     "Gerry" was born August 2, 1912 at West Liberty, IA to Elmer and Nora (McCaw) Evans and graduated from Lincoln High School in Vinton in 1930.  After graduation she taught in country schools for two years.
     On October 8, 1932 she married August Henry Brehm in Missouri and he preceded her in death on December 26, 1971.  She married Fred Sorensen on October 12, 1972 in Hiawatha and was widowed again on June 29, 1983.
     Gerry served as a Receiving Inspector at Rockwell Collins in Cedar Rapids until her retirement in 1974.  Upon retiring she and her husband moved to Tucson, AZ where she resided for over twenty-eight years.  She loved to play Bridge and Hearts, and enjoyed dancing, and reading.  She enjoyed all sports and was an avid golfer, until her late 70's.
     She is survived by her sons, Lynn (Rose) Brehm of Charlotte, MI, and Dennis Brehm of West Des Moines; her grandchildren, Jodi Brehm of Charlotte, MI, Todd (Andrea) Brehm of Oregon, IL, Kevin (Charity) Brehm of Oregon, IL, Elizabeth (Ty) Brehm of San Diego, CA, Christopher Brehm of Tuscon, AZ, and Katie Crosby of Charlotte, MI; her great-grandchildren, Tyler Boily, Alixandrea Brehm, Dustin Brehm and Daniell, Erik and Kaylee Brehm; and her brother, Harold (Joan) Evans of Vinton.
     In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by two daughters-in-law, Marijean Brehm and Pamela Brehm, and her brother, Phillip Evans.
