VINTON:  George H. Haefner, Jr., 77, died Friday, November 27, 2009 at the Vinton Lutheran Home following an extended illness.

     Friends may call at Phillips Funeral Home, 212 E. 6th St., in Vinton from 2 to 5 PM on Sunday,  Private Family Committal Services will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Vinton.  A memorial fund has been established.

     George was born July 14, 1932 at Blairstown to George H. St. and Bessie (Trimble) Haefner.  He married Doris M. Cress on December 24, 1954 in Vinton.  He loved carpentering, playing cards and bowling.

     Survivors include his wife, Doris of Vinton; his sons, Russell (Kristy) of Dysart, and Kevin (Julie) of Vinton; his daughters, Collette (Harry) Harrison of Holiday Lake, and Renee (Darby) Stein of Vinton; his brother, Donnie (Sharon) of Vinton; and his twin sister, JoAnn Roster of Vinton.  Also surviving are nine grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren.
