WALKER:  H. Maxine Mathews Bixby, age 100, died Sunday, December 30, 2007 at her residence following an extended illness.
     Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM, Friday, January 4, 2008 at the Walker United Methodist Church in Walker with Rev. Diane Mitchell officiating.  Committal Services will be held at 2 PM, on Saturday at the Walker Cemetery.  Friends may call at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel in Vinton from 4 to 8 PM on Thursday.  In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in her name.
     "Maxine" was born August 31, 1907 in Kingsbury County near Lake Preston, SD to William and Dena (Nelson) Wilde.  On December 17, 1927 she married James E. Mathews at Lake Preston, SD.  He preceded her in death on July 18, 1983.  She married Darrell Bixby on February 8, 1992 at Lander WY and he preceded her in death on February 14, 1996.
     She was a member of the Walker United Methodist Church and the V.F.W. in Cedar Rapids.
     "Maxine" is survived by her children, Donna Rauch of Coggon, Loren (Carol) Mathews of Cedar Rapids, Sharon (Delbert) Koopman of Vinton, Allen "Bud" (JoAnn) Mathews of Lander, WY, Leila "Cookie" Stainbrook of Shoshoni, WY, Gale (Bonnie) Mathews of Jesup, and Danny (Debra) Mathews of Walker; thirty-four grandchildren; sixty-eight great-grandchildren, and twenty-seven great-great-grandchildren.
     In additioin to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by her son, James Dean Mathews; four brothers and one sister.
