URBANA:  Harold Frank Kramer, 96, died Thursday, July 23, 2009 at Virginia Gay Nursing and Rehab following a brief illness.
     A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 AM, Tuesday, July 28, 2009 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Vinton with Father David Ambrosy as Celebrant.  Interment will be held at the St. Mary's Catholic  Cemetery in Urbana with Graveside Military Rites conducted by Walter J. Meyocks American Legion Post #264 of Urbana.  Friends may call at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, 212 E. 6th St., Vinton,  from 4 to 7 PM on Monday where a Prayer Service led by Sister Mary Hargrafen will begin at 7 PM. A memorial fund has been established.
      Harold was born April 6, 1913 at Urbana to Edward and Elizabeth (Schmitz) Kramer.
On November 27, 1941 he was united in marriage to Marguerite Mahoney at Walker, Iowa.  She preceded him in death on March 3, 1984.
       From July 1942 to Oct 1945, he served his nation in the Army Air Corp as a Staff Sergeant seeing action in the China/Burma Theater.  He was a member of the Walter J. Meyocks American Legion Post #264 of Urbana.
        Harold was a farmer, a Tractor Mechanic and was employed by Paulson Construction of Cedar Rapids for 25 years prior to his retirement.  He enjoyed watching Iowa Hawkeye Football and Basketball and Chicago Cubs Baseball games.  He loved woodworking and was lovingly referred to as the "family noodle maker".  He will be remembered for showing his joy and happy disposition by whistling familiar tunes.
          He is survived by his daughter, Generose Flatberg and husband, Chuck of Vinton, his sons, Ron Kramer and wife, Shiela of Hemet, CA, William Kramer and wife, Shelley of Vinton, and Danny Kramer of Omaha, NE; his grandchildren, Jolyne Hogan, Jackie Shaw, Julie Lessig, Bob Kramer, Jason Kramer, Tony Kramer, Tracey Sweet, Tracy Miller, Marguerite Kramer, John Kramer; thirteen great grandchildren, Drew Hogan, Jordan Shaw, Jaeger Shaw, Bradey Shaw, Barett Shaw, Brai Lessig, Vann Lessig, Cal Lessig, Carlee Kramer, Erika Kramer, Arleen Kramer, Keson Kramer, and Kyann Miller.
            In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers.
