Vinton: Hilda Ann Stainbrook, 97, died Sunday, April 3, 2011 at Virginia Gay Nursing & Rehab following an extended illness. Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM, Thursday, April 7, 2011 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Vinton with Rev. Clarke E. Frederick officiating. Interment will be held at the Brandon Cemetery in Brandon. Friends may call at the church from 10 am until service time on Thursday. A Memorial Fund has been established. Hilda was born February 3, 1914 at Keystone to Wilhelm and Anna (Holst) Knoke and graduated from the Keystone High School in 1933. On April 10, 1935 she was united in marriage to Robert "Floyd" Stainbrook at Morrison, IL. The couple farmed in Buchanan and Benton County many years before moving to Vinton in 1970. He preceded her in death in 1989. Hilda was employed as Sales Clerk at Coast to Coast in Vinton and she retired in 1986. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Hilda loved being surrounded by her family in whom she took great pride. While on the farm she raised a huge garden and earned many ribbons for her canned goods and flowers at the Benton Co. Fair. In later years she enjoyed playing cards and Bingo and her family's Christmas Game. She also loved singing German Songs to all the nurses at Virginia Gay Nursing & Rehab. Hilda was blessed to be a Cancer Survivor for many years. She is survived by her son, Jim (Tracy) Stainbrook of Cedar Rapids; her daughters, Karen (Ed) Kaut of Center Point, and Carla (Robert) Albersten of Van Horne; her n daughter-in-law, Nancy Stainbrook of Vinton; ten grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Roger; her grandson, Tim Kaut; three brothers, Art, John and Bill Knoke; five sisters, Mary Bryant, Christina Mills, Dora Kallsen, Irma Liddle, and Helen Kaut.
