VINTON:  Ival H. Schulze, age 96, died Sunday, August 24, 2008 at Virginia Gay Nursing and Rehab following a short illness.
     Memorial Services will be held at 1:30 PM, Wednesday, August 27, 2008 at the Phillips Family Center in Vinton, 605 2nd Avenue.  The family will greet friends following the service.
     Ival was born on September 2, 1911 in Van Horne, the son of Arden and Mattie (Kramer) Schulze. On February 3, 1937, he was united in marriage to Myrtle Johnson in Van Horne.  The couple farmed South-East of Vinton, retiring in 1988.  Ival continued to live on the farm until entering Virginia Gay Nursing and Rehab in June of this year.
     He enjoyed sports, especially Iowa Hawkeye Athletics.  Ival was an avid investor and enjoyed following the stock and commodities markets.
     He is survived by his son Lee Schulze of Garwin, the former owner of Lee's Bakery in Vinton; two grandchildren, Valerie (Erv) Van Wyk of Pella and Brad (Deanna) Schulze of Indianola; six great-grandchildren, Zachery (Kay) Van Wyk, Benjamin Van Wyk and Elizabeth Van Wyk, all of Pella and Nicholas Schulze, Jordan Schulze and Katlyn Schulze, all of Indianola and his daughter-in-law Karren (Berry) Gray of Tama.
     He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Myrtle in 1995 and his sister, Hazel Seymor.
     A memorial fund has been established.
