VINTON:  Bernice "Ida" Cox, 56 of Vinton died Sunday, January 10, 2010 following a brief illness.  A Prayer Service will be held at 6:00 PM, Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, 212 E 6th St. in Vinton with Rev. Greg Collins officiating.  Friends may call at the funeral home from 4:00 PM until service time on Wednesday. 

            Ida was born August 24, 1953 in Iowa City to Clem and Bernice (Kyle) Mahan.  She was a resident at Virginia Gay Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Vinton where she greatly enjoyed her time spent there.  Ida loved playing cards, BINGO, Dominos and marbles with her many friends there.  Most of all she treasured the time spent with her grandchildren and watching her boys play softball, she also liked to shop and care for her animals.

            Ida is survived by her children:  Angie (Elaine) Neal of Cedar Rapids; Shane (Ellie) Cox, Travis (Katie) Cox, Todd (Beth) Cox all of Vinton; her thirteen grandchildren, three great grandchildren; two nephews and one niece. 

            Her parents, one brother and grandson, Dayton Todd Countryman preceded her in death.
