URBANA:  Irene C. Schlotterbeck, 88, died Monday, November 9, 2009 at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids following a brief illness.

     A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 AM, Thursday, November 12, 2009 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Urbana with Father David Ambrosy as Celebrant.  Interment will be held at St. Mary's Cemetery near Urbana.   Visitation will also be held at the church in Urbana from 4 to 8 PM on Wednesday.

     Irene was born April 30, 1921 near Walker to Edward and Elizabeth (Schmitz) Kramer.

     On June 14, 1939 she was united in marriage to Harold Schlotterbeck at Spencer's Grove.   He preceded her in death on February 9, 1997. 

     A member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Urbana, Irene was a member of the Rosary Society of her parish.

     She is survived by her daughters, Karen Goodell, Connie (Arvil) Haars, and Shelly (Ted) Shaver, all of Urbana; ten grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and her sister, Darlene Clark Sommerfeld of Vinton.

     In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Chad Haars; and her brothers, Harold, Harry, Leo, and Henry Kramer.

     Phillips Funeral Home in Vinton is in charge of arrangements.
