BLAIRSTOWN:  John "Jack" Wagner, 85, died October 3, 2006 in his home after a lengthy illness.  His body has been donated to the U of I Dept. of Anatomical Research.  At his request there will be no services.
     John was born June 4, 1921 at Belle Plaine to Glenn L. and Elsie (Dodd) Wagner and graduated from the Belle Plaine High School in 1938.  He served his nation in the US Navy during World War II and was the first WW II Veteran to join the M. J. Kirby American Legion Post #170 in Blairstown. 
     On February 9, 1946 he married Wanda Walrod in Des Moines.  John was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.  He was also an avid Cubs, Bears and U of I Hawkeye sports fan. He loved playing Rolle Bolle.
     In addition to Wanda, his wife of 60 years, he is survived by his sons, Jon (Sheila) Wagner of Centerville, Monte (Monica) Wagner of Blairstown, his daughter, Dana Wagner of North Liberty, special family friend, Linda Roth of North Liberty, one grandson, three granddaughters, 2 step-grandsons, two step-granddaughters, one great- granddaughter.
     He was preceded in death by his parents and one granddaughter.
