VINTON:  Jay L. McIntyre Murphy, 30, died Thursday, December 10, 2009 at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids following a brief illness.

     Funeral Services will be held at Noon on Thursday, December 17, 2009 at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, 212 E. 6th St., in Vinton with Pastor Howe of Cornerstone Baptist Church officiating.  Interment will be held at Kostza Cemetery, south of Belle Plaine.  Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 7 PM on Wednesday.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the family at 1307 W. 4th St., Vinton, IA 52349.

     Jay was born July 9, 1979 at Iowa City and is the son of Raymond L. and Candice (Niedert) Murphy.   On August 21, 2002 he married Elizabeth A. Thompson at Vinton. 

     Jay was employed with Stanley Roofing.  He was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church and the Firebird Nation Car Club.

     He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth and three daughters, Hannah, Hailee, and Hali, of Vinton; his Mom and Dad, Candy and Raymond Murphy, all of Vinton; and his brothers, Bill Murphy of Toledo, Jimmy McIntyre-Murphy of Vinton, Christian Murphy of Cedar Rapids, and Raymond Lee Murphy, Jr. of Vinton.
