SHELLSBURG: Jerrold K. Brehm, 69, died Sunday, March 8, 2009 at U of I Hospitals & Clinics in Iowa City following a sudden illness.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM, Thursday, March 12, 2009 at Oak Grove Church near Shellsburg with Pastor Larry Rodgers officiating. Interment will be held at the Urbana Cemetery near Urbana. Friends may call at Phillips Funeral Home, 212 E. 6th St., in Vinton from 4 to 7:30 PM on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.
Jerrold was born November 11, 1939 at Center Point to Walter and Hazel (Gray) Brehm and graduated from the Urbana High School in 1958.
For thirty-six years he was employed at Rockwell Collins in the Tool & Dye Maintenance Dept and he retired in 1994. After his retirement he worked for the City Of Shellsburg and at Wildcat Golf Course. Jerrold was a life member of Oak Grove Church and served on the Shellsburg Fire Dept. for sixteen years from 1987 to 2003. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and enjoyed helping neighbors and friends and visiting residents of local care centers.
He is survived by his sons, Jeffrey (Julie) Brehm and Jay (Denice) Brehm; his grandchildren, Vanessa Boddicker, Tony Krueger, Terran Brehm, Trey Brehm, and Tristen Brehm; his great granddaughter, Jersi Boddicker; his sisters, Virginia (Don) Bistline, Mary (Warren) Richart, Marcella (Bob) Caslavka, and Patricia (Russell) Abernathy; and his brother, Conrad (Della) Brehm,
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-mother, Violet; his son, Jerrold "Jake" Brehm, Jr.; his sister, Shirley Goodell; and two brothers, Richard and Robert Brehm.
