VINTON:  John E. Berry, 60, passed away February 11, 2010 at the VA Medical Center in Iowa City following an extended illness.

     Private Family Services will be held with Interment and Military Rites at Evergreen Cemetery in Vinton.  Phillips Funeral Home is assisting the family.

     John was born March 22, 1949 at Vinton to Earl W. and Lillian (Lindsey) Berry and graduated from Vinton's Washington High School in 1967.  He served his nation in the US Army from 1969 to 1971 in Viet Nam.  John was employed at Amana Refrigeration from 1974 until his retirement in 2008.

     He is survived by his sons, Dan (Mary) Berry of Vinton, Kevin (Sandy) Berry of Cedar Rapids, and Tim (Nicole) Berry of Center Point; his friend, Joan Neunaber of Vinton; five grandchildren; his brothers, Jimmy Berry of Sigourney, and Larry Berry of Vinton; and his sister, Jean Berry (Brian Skaife) of Benton, WI.

     He was preceded in death by his parents.
