VINTON:   John Leslie Shaw, Jr., 86, of Zephyrhills, FL and formerly of Vinton, died October 1, 2010 at South Florida Hospitals in Zephyrhills following an extended illness.

     Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM, Thursday, October 7, 2010 at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, 212 E. 6th St. in Vinton with Rev. Kären Larson officiating.  Interment will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Vinton with Graveside Military Rites.   Friends may call at the funeral home from 9 AM, Thursday until service time.

     John was born May 6, 1924 in Vinton to John Leslie and Anna Lucille (Brumwell) Shaw, Sr., and graduated from High School before serving his nation in the US Military.

John farmed prior to his retirement.

     He is survived by his sons, Steven Shaw of Ashville, NC, Stanley Shaw of Wasburn, Allen (Rhonda) Shaw of Cedar Falls, and David (Dena) Shaw of Temecula, CA; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren; and his special friend, Doris Gilley.

     He was preceded in death by his parents; his son; his daughter; and his brother.
