VINTON-Kathryn H. Gewecke, age 90 of Vinton and formerly of Newhall died Saturday, May 12, 2007 at the Vinton Lutheran Home following a short illness. 
     Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M., Monday at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel in Vinton.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, May 15, 2007 at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories in Cedar Rapids with Rev. John Hegarty and Rev. Clinton Jeffers officiating. Interment will be at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery in Cedar Rapids.  A memorial fund has been established.
     Kathryn was born November 26, 1916 in Van Horne, the daughter of George and Katie (Guider) Hagen. She was united in marriage to Sterling Gewecke on February 14, 1935 in Belle Plaine. 
     Kathryn is survived by her son, Dennis (Connie) Gewecke of Vinton; her grandchildren, Cindy Gewecke of Palo and Terry (Lori) Gewecke of Atkins; her great-grandchildren. Rachel and Brooke Gewecke; her step-grandchildren, Lori (Robert) Larsen of Lawrenceville, Georgia and Gregg Evans of Cedar Falls;  her step-great-grandchildren, Ashley and Bryce Larsen and one sister, Opal Primrose of Van Horne.
     In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Sterling Gewecke; an infant son, Ronald Leroy Gewecke; her sister Bernice "Peg" Boatman and her brother, Junior "Bud" Hagen.
