SHELLSBURG:     Leo Vincent Brummer, age 66, died Friday, August 25, 2006 at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids following a short battle with cancer. 
     A Funeral Service will be held at 7 PM on Monday, August 28, 2006 at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, 212 E. 6th St. in Vinton with Sister Mary Hargrafen of St. Mary's Catholic Church officiating.  Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 to 8 PM on Monday where the family will be present from 4 to 8 PM.  Committal Services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, August 9, 2006, at St. Boniface Cemetery in Charter Oak, Iowa.
     Leo was born October 25, 1939 at Charter Oak to Laverne William and Clara Irene (Kofmehl) Brummer and graduated from Charter Oak High School in 1958.  For six years he served his nation in the Army National Guard.
     On June 2, 1962 he married Kathleen Kayser in Cedar Rapids and the couple was later divorced.  Leo was a driver for Swiss Valley Farms for thirty years and retired in 1996. He has also farmed since 1968 and was serving as a Bus Driver for Benton County Transportation.  Leo enjoyed farming, and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
     He is survived by his special friend, Marlias Woods of Vinton; his daughter and her husband, Barb and Tom Schoonover of Vinton; his sons, Brian Brummer and Chris Relf of Shellsburg, and Brett Bummer and Anne Armstrong of Shellsburg; his grandchildren, April and Stacy Schoonover, Melissa Brummer and fiancé, Kevin Schueller, Dillon Brummer, Jeremy Brummer and Alina Armstrong, Andrew Brummer and Aliza Brummer; his brother, Bob Brummer of Guthrie Center; and his sister, Lois Lower and her husband, Jim of Sioux City.
     He was preceded in death by his parents, infant brother, Joe, and brothers Dick, Russell and Larry Brummer.
