VINTON:  Larry D. Geiger, 69, died Saturday, December 20, 2008 at Virginia Gay Hospital following a sudden illness.
     Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM, Tuesday, December 23, 2008 at Phillips Family Center in Vinton with Rev. Clarke E. Frederick officiating.  Interment will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Vinton.  Friends may call at Phillips Family Center from 4 to 7 PM on Monday.  A Memorial Fund has been established.
      Larry was born October 9, 1939 at Vinton to Clifford and Gretchen (Tharp) Geiger.  On November 18, 1956 he married Imogene Flatberg at Cedar Rapids.  She preceded him in death in 1987. 
      Larry was employed as a Mechanic at Theisen's the past ten years.
      He is survived by his son, Lenny (Krys) Geiger of Vinton; his daughters, Deb (Bruce) Smith of Vinton, Robin (Rusty) Winterroth of Vinton, and Shelly (Chris) Hissong of Vinton; ten grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; eight step-great grandchildren; his step-mother, Mildred Geiger of Vinton; his sister, Lyla Mae (Lawrence) Wubbena of Cedar Rapids; his brother, Terry (Shirley) Geiger of Vinton his half brothers, Joe (Barb) Geiger of Iowa City, and Jeff (LaDonna) Geiger of Vinton; his step brother, Donald (Louise) Manley of Texas; and two step-sisters, Linda (Mike) Dales of Des Moines, and Susan (Ed) Merden of Ottumwa.
     In addition to his wife, Imogene, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Gina Marie Geiger; his infant grandson, Brian Wood; and his brother, Lyle Geiger.
