URBANA: Lela F. Hepker entered into eternal rest at the age of 83 this past Saturday (June 24, 2006) at the Vinton Lutheran Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, June 28, 2006 at the Urbana United Methodist Church with Rev. Leo E. Andersen officiating. Interment will be in the Urbana Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 P.M. on Tuesday, June 27, 2006 at the Phillips Family Center, 605 Second Avenue, Vinton. A memorial fund has been established.
Lela was born March 11, 1923 between Urbana and Center Point to Isaac Newton and Erma (Wheeler) Boyles. On October 15, 1940 she was married to Clifford Hepker in Urbana. Lela was a member of the Urbana Methodist Church and the Urbana American Legion Auxiliary for over 50 years, and the Helping Hand Club. Lela enjoyed handcrafts, playing cards and spending time with her family.
Her memory will be cherished by her children: one son, Ronald Hepker and wife Mary of Buffalo, Wyoming; three daughters, Phyllis Noe and husband Lawrence of Independence, Pat Hopper and husband Jack of Vinton, and Karen Moore and husband Richard of Sylvester, Georgia; sixteen grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; thirty-eight great grandchildren and two step-great grandchildren.
Lela was preceded in death by her parents; husband, one son, Randy Hepker; one grandson; one granddaughter, one great grandson. five brothers, Harold, Howard, Sid, Everett and Don Boyles and four sisters, Leona Rick, Buelah Elgin, Grace Van Fossen and Pansy Hawley.
