ELBERON: Lois L. Kusel Weaver, age 86, died Saturday, May 17, 2008 at the Belle Plaine Nursing and Rehab in Belle Plaine following a sudden illness.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM., on Wednesday, May 21, 2008 at St. John Lutheran Church in Keystone with Rev. Dr. James Eggert officiating. Interment will be held at the Keystone Cemetery in Keystone. Friends may call at Phillips Funeral Home in Keystone from 4 to 7 PM on Tuesday. A memorial fund has been established. Lois was born December 1, 1921 near Keystone to Gustav and Emma (Bender) Kusel and graduated from the Dysart High School. She then attended Hamilton Business College in Cedar Rapids. On January 12, 1941 she was united in marriage to Max K. Weaver at Toledo, IA. The couple farmed in the Elberon area from 1949 until 1980 when they retired and made their home in Elberon. Max preceded her in death in 1998. Lois was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Keystone, the Elberon Legion Auxiliary and the Keystone Turners Auxiliary. She is survived by her children, Ronald (Melissa) Weaver of Cedar Rapids and Nancy (Don) Kupka of Elberon; her grandchildren, Vicki Blalock, Wade Kupka, Justin Kupka, and Drew Kupka; eight great-grandchildren; and her sister-in-law, Thelma Kusel of Keystone. In addition to her parents and husband, Max, she was preceded in death by her brother, Loren Kusel.
