NEWHALL - Loren Werning, age 75, died Saturday, July 7, 2007 at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids following an extended illness.
     Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM, Tuesday, July 10, 2007 at St. John Lutheran Church in Newhall with Rev. Douglas Woltemath officiating.  Interment will be held at St. John Cemetery in Newhall.  Friends may call at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel in Vinton from 4 to 8 PM on Monday.  A memorial fund has been established.
     Loren was born October 21, 1931 on a farm near Newhall to Paul and Hilda (Senne) Werning and graduated from the Newhall High School in 1949.  During the Korean Conflict he served his nation in the US Army.
     On April 5, 1959 he married Delores Weisert at St. John Lutheran Church in Newhall.  Loren farmed in Eldorado Township for many years and after retiring from farming he was employed at the Linn Co-op. 
     He served his congregation as an Elder, and was a member of the Iowa Valley Baseball Board.  Loren loved baseball and enjoyed bowling. 
     Loren is survived by his wife, Delores of Newhall; his children, Kendall Werning of Shellsburg, Janelle (Mike) Nissen of Marion, and Vaughn (Lisa) Werning of Fort Dodge; his grandchildren, Nathan and Sarah Nissen of Marion, Bronson Werning of Shellsburg, and Katelyn and Carson Werning of Fort Dodge.
     His parents and his brother, Raymond Werning preceded him in death.
