VINTON: Lois M. Benson, 73, died Thursday, March 19, 2009 at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids, following an extended illness.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, 212 E. 6th St., in Vinton with Pastor Jim Blair officiating. Interment will be held at Maplewood Cemetery in Vinton. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 7 PM on Tuesday. A Memorial Fund has been established.
Lois was born September 25, 1935 at Waukon to William and Opal (Southwell) Hertrampf, II and graduated from the Waukon High School in 1953. On December 31, 1951 she married William Benson at Waukon. Prior to her retirement in 1991 she was employed in the Parts Dept. at Rockwell-Collins for twenty-five years. Lois was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit #57 of Vinton.
She is survived by her husband, William of Vinton; her sons, Jason (Vicky) Benson of Mechanicsville, and Eric and Blake Benson, both of Vinton; her daughters, Cindy (Charlie) Blackburn of Vinton, Sally Benson of Arvada, CO, and Lacey (Dan) Mason of Kellogg; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; her brother, Carroll Beall of Waukon; and her sisters, Irene (Jim) Elton of Stewartville, MN, Delia Beall of Waukon, Jette Berken of Spring Valley, MN, and Emma Beall of Waukon.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, William Hertrampf, III, and her sister, Evangalene "Suzie" Beall.
