NEWHALL:  Loyal Ivan Ure, age 61, of Atkins, formerly of Newhall, died Saturday, March 14, 2009 at his home following a courageous battle with cancer.
     Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, March 18, 2009 at the Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, 212 E. 6th Street in Vinton with Rev. Mike Andrew officiating.  Interment will be held at Mound Cemetery, rural Watkins.  Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 until 8 PM on Tuesday.  A Memorial Fund has been established.
      Loyal was born December 16, 1947 at Jefferson, Iowa to Warren and Ellen (Mooney) Ure, and graduated from Jefferson Community High School in 1966.
      He married Margaret Rothmeyer on August 23, 1969 at Omaha, NE. 
      Loyal has worked for Iowa Electric / Alliant Energy for the past 40 years, serving in the communities of Perry and George, Iowa.  Since 1981, he has worked at the Duane Arnold Energy Center in Palo.
       He and was a member of the Moose Lodge and enjoyed fishing, camping, bowling and especially spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren
       He is survived by his wife, Margaret; two daughters, Joan (Philip) "Chuck" Jones of Amana and Christine (Scott) Wilhelm of Blairstown; five grandchildren, Aimee Cecak-Jones, Bryce Jones, Chase Jones, Cynthia (Christopher) Schmitz and Brandon Wilhelm; two great grandchildren, Isaak and Nathan Schmitz; and his brother-in-law, Michael Goodman and nephew, Rusty Goodman, both of Wasilla, Alaska.
     In addition to his parents, Loyal was preceded in death by his sister Leona "Lee" Goodman.
